Lantau International School has taught a British primary curriculum on Lantau Island since 1995, spread across three small campuses at Cheung Sha, Tong Fuk and Pui O. Around 250 pupils aged 4–12 learn with Mandarin from Reception, and the school is registered with Hong Kong's Education Bureau. James Lambert, on the staff since 2001, has been principal since July 2020.

The outdoor life is the main reason parents choose it: small classes, PE on the beach, and a low-pressure environment by Hong Kong standards. Teachers are described as warm and attentive, with effective support for pupils learning English as an additional language. One parent dissented, calling the school disorganised, with parent communication confusing or absent.

Fees are pitched well below the typical Hong Kong international school benchmark and include learning materials. Full-day fees run from HKD 81,000 in Reception to HKD 105,500 across the six primary years, with part-time pre-reception options for three-year-olds.

  • One critical parent voice across reviews flagged communication and organisation as poor.
  • Fees pitched well below the typical Hong Kong international school benchmark, with learning materials included.

Positives

  • Nature-led primary experience. Beach PE, outdoor focus, and Lantau Island setting are the recurring reason parents pick this school.
  • Teaching staff. Parents call teachers warm, attentive, and strong with English-as-an-additional-language learners.
  • Affordability. Fees cited as among the lowest for Hong Kong international schools.

Considerations

  • Communication and organisation. One parent voice across aggregator pages called the school disorganised with confusing or absent parent communication.
